For some reason, I never posted this to my blog. Everyone in the class combined into two people. I had a lot of fun doing this. I just went with the flow and took something small from each portrait.

Final
This project has been hard for me because I have been so sick. A couple weeks ago before I was sick I went to Boston to buy some paints and took pictures of the architecture there. I thought maybe thats where I was going to go with my final. After looking through some of my pictures from Boston, I decided I wanted to do landscapes with the sun going down. I love taking pictures of landscapes so I figured this would be a good idea from my final. A lot of times I am driving home from work and the sun is going down and I try to capture it in my car. A lot of my pictures were taken from inside a car because I've been so sick and can not go outside that much. If I was not sick, I think I could of done a better job on this project,

Greece
So, you guys are probably finishing up your critique of all the finals and I could not be there. I have been home sick for almost 2 weeks now. I have missed all my classes and finals and it is stressing me out. There has been no way I could take pictures over the past two weeks. I think I am starting to get a little better. Since I could not go out and take some pictures, I have been looking through my pictures to try and work something out. I went to Greece last summer and would love to use those pictures as my final. I however did not take them this semester, so I do not know if it will be acceptable. I am putting them on here for you to see just in case. These are the ones I would choose. I think they show the beauty of Greece, and just to let you know, pictures do not do it justice. It is breath taking there.

Social Narrative
For some reason my picture of the drunk guy sleeping would not upload.
I really enjoyed this assignment because I love the Bruins and I got to express the experience of a Bruins game. My idea kept changing for the social narrative landscape, at first I wanted to do poverty. When I was thinking social narrative landscape, I was thinking of negativity, something negative in this world that needed to be documented. I was struggling with this concept. Then I asked Sarah Nelson what she was doing for her and she said music scene. Sports clicked in my brain right away.
Once I had an idea I was excited about, all the juices were flowing. I wanted to go around town and capture anything that had to do with sports. I was home in Nashua at the time and for some reason nothing was really catching my eye. I had tickets to two Bruins games and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take the pictures I wanted. All the pictures I took I ended up liking. I am one of those people that take a picture and only want to take one. I do not like taking a million of one thing. My contact sheets always end up being very short and that is why. I like to get it all in one shot. The only picture that is missing from this that I wanted, was I wanted to find a bum holding up a Bruins sign. They are always around the Garden trying to get money for cheering for the Bruins. Unfortunately I could not find one. This assignment was also hard for me to switch to black and white because I love color so much but I really wanted them to look classic.

911
When 911 happened, I was in 7th grade. We had two classrooms right next to each other connected by a series of windows, so you could see into each classroom. One room had a t.v. and the other did not, I was in the classroom that did not have a t.v. The other teacher came into our room and said something in private to our teacher. Our teacher then made us all get in the room with the t.v. They turned on the news and one tower had already been hit. I really don't think I understood what was going on exactly. I knew what the twin towers were and have been in them before but I had no idea why these planes were flying into them. We sat and watched until the second tower was hit. The teachers were crying and I knew it was something serious. A few people were on there phones calling people. I remember there was some concern because one of the students could not get a hold of their parents but I am pretty sure they ended up being fine. After that it is a blur. I remember perfectly the t.v being put on but a few hours after that I don't remember my reaction at all.
Social Narrative Landscape
What is a social narrative landscape? I could not tell you. This was my idea of it. I decided it had to be a landscape that could tell a story. My first picture of a boy texting, I really liked the landscape he was in and I thought it could tell its own story. We do not know who this boy is texting or what he is waiting for in that chair. The second picture I took was under a bridge. There was graffiti all over it and also million of nip bottles. I figure this landscape in its self could tell a story. The third one, I just really like the symmetry :)

For Fun
This weekend I went to Emery Farm to do some face painting, I work with the organization Community Partners and they asked me to come down for this event. I took a few photos of the landscape and pumpkins, I realized I really like to take pictures of landscapes. I love to use the sun as my light source, I feel like my strongest images are ones that have a strong light source.

Why do people photograph
I think people photograph for all different reasons, I think photography is a personal thing. Some people might want to convey a message, some might want to capture a moment that they will never forget it. Some people might just love the photography process and the technicalities of it. So to be honest, I do not know exactly why people take pictures; if you were to survey a bunch of people I bet you would get a broad range of answers. Some people want to show off their photos, some do not show them to anyone, it could be a personal satisfaction.
I started taking pictures in the 9th grade when I first got a digital camera. At first it was for memories, I wanted to remember every event from high school and every night with my girlfriends. I was known as the camera girl because I had pictures from everyday. I would upload on a live journal so everyone could see. I also liked the satisfaction of everyone wanting to see my pictures. Now that I am older I take pictures for other reasons, I still take them for memories, but also to capture beauty in the environment. I like to take pictures of landscapes and sunsets. I like to remember the natural beauty of the environment and capture it.

Creative process
My creative process varies from subject to subject. If I am not interested in the subject matter I have a hard time sitting down and working on being creative. This goes with photography, painting, scrap booking, anything hands on. If there is an assignment that I am intrigued by normally I start picturing what I want to do in my head right away, and I normally always stick with my gut feeling. I will also start it right away so that way I have time to change things if my original idea goes wrong. If i am not interested in it, I try as hard as I can to be creative but sometimes it just does not work and I accept it and move on. I do not like to dwell on my failures, just to take it as it is and wait for the next assignment that is going to inspire me. I do not like to push inspiration, I just want it to come from me.
I do not really know a lot of photographers because painting is my concentration so I have not really gotten to know any photographers specially but I can share with you who inspires me to paint. First in high school it was Andy Warhol
The painting below is a quick reproduction that I did yesterday by Francoise

I really loved his use of color and color has been my main focus in painting always. Color is my inspiration most of the time. A new artist I found has become one of my all time favorite and every time i look at her work I end up doing a reproduction. I just did one yesterday. Her name is Francoise Neilly

Seven Deadly Sins
The seven deadly sins was quiet the challenge. It was very hard not to be cliche. At first I was just going to do portraits with different back drops and harsh lighting. Then I realized if I tried to do it inside I would not like my images. Outside is my strong point. I decided I wanted to use my own paintings in the pictures to help represent the sins. I had ideas for lust and sloth but I made up the rest once we got outside at Dover Point. Once I got there I started using my resources and surroundings to come up with new ideas. I was pretty happy with the results. My favorites would be my lust and envy photos. My least favorite would be gluttony because it is kind of an awkward picture.

Flenaur
I really enjoyed this assignment because it was suppose to be poetic; a lot of things can be poetic so I felt a lot of freedom in this assignment. My first couple pictures were from Hampton beach, makes me sad because it was the last beach day of the year and I am glad I got to capture it. I really liked a lot of the pictures I took that day but the first two defiantly had the best composition and color. The rest of them were from Newmarket, me and my roommate went for a walk and found some great pictures. I really wanted to capture the color of the fall trees since they will be dying soon. I think I captured that and also got some great angle shots.
